OUR last talk in 2014 “Gardens of China” was given by Duncan Coombes.
After being invited to visit China he became interested in the history of Scholars gardens which date back over 2,000 years.
The philosophy behind the planning of these gardens is still being used in planning gardens and parks in China today.
He explained the strict rules that were followed to create an environment which promoted feelings of tranquillity and reflection.
It was a delightful talk with lovely illustrations.
Our programme for next year was handed out at our Christmas party.
It contains an excellent selection of talks and demonstrations and so, what with the special events planned by the National and County Federations for our Centenary year, 2015 promises to be a memorable one for the WI.
We are always pleased to welcome new members and anyone who would like to get to know us could join us at our lunch on January 12 in St George’s Parish Rooms.
If you would like to attend please let us know before January 5 by phoning (01453) 833065 or 839052.
Happy New Year!
