REFUGEES from North Korea who are forcibly repatriated by the Chinese government are being imprisoned or executed on their return.

Amnesty International Mid Glos’ North Korean campaign co-ordinator, Karen McKeown says; “just last month a group of teenagers were sent back to North Korea from China. Shockingly, they were thrown into prison and some were killed.”

Ms McKeown is spearheading the SEND NO ONE BACK TO NORTH KOREA campaign locally and urges as many people as possible to send specially produced cards to China’s President. The pre-written cards urge the Chinese government to grant refugee status to North Koreans and help them to travel to South Korea or other countries of their choosing.

She says; “you don’t have to be a member of Amnesty International Mid Gos to send the cards. Just contact us at www.facebook.com/amnestymidglos, tweet us @amnestymidglos or call us on 01453 872446 or 07969505488 and we’ll get the materials you need to you.”
