WHAT better way to spend a raw, cold, February evening, than to arrive at The Oakridge Village Hall for Members Meeting, (chaired by Ann Fry with Alison Hewitt as Secretary,) to be greeted

by enticing aromas from the kitchen and then be thoroughly entertained by Mr Mike Mills with his talk and lovely slide show on Old Oakridge.

Newer residents were intrigued by the way the roads and properties etc: have changed over the years, most noticeably the lack of trees in the surrounding hamlets and The Lynch itself.

It was fun to name the cottages, and note the fashions too.

We were sorry that Mike and Margaret were not able to stay for supper, but they were both warmly thanked by all the members.

The business followed with news of the arrival of the Centenary Baton in our area, with a

Champagne tea at Brimscombe and Thrupp on Sunday, March 22, before it travels to Avening on it's way through Gloucestershire.

Orders were taken for The County News Letter.

Details of the Centenary AGM at The Royal Albert Hall, to be broadcast Live from The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury on June 4.

Supper was served with a choice of, shepherds pie, fish pie or vegetarian casserole, followed by a superb array of mouth-watering desserts.

We were all very well entertained and fed and thanks from the President and Committee was

given By Sue Hemming.

Date of the next meeting, an open meeting, everyone is most welcome to attend on March 12 when we shall have a talk by Shaun McCormack, The Queens Bodyguard - Yeoman of the Guard.

Starting at 7.30pm.

Venue as usual The Oakridge Village Hall.
