YEAR 8 and 9 students at Sir William Romney’s School in Tetbury have recently completed the Hour of Code, joining more than 98 million people from around the world who have completed coding puzzles and challenges on code.org.

Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, globally launched by non-profit Code.org in December 2013 to make coding less intimidating to students.

The school’s IT Curriculum Co-ordinator Matthew Duke comments: “Coding is an important skill to develop. As well as learning how to write programs, it also helps students develop skills in logical thinking and problem solving. Year 7 students have also been developing their programming skills by creating a computer game in Kodu.”
