OUR year started off with what is now a traditional lunch cooked by the committee for members and their guests and it proved to be a convivial start to our WI Centenary year.
At our February meeting Paul Evans entertained us with “Amusing Anecdotes and Poems” and his wonderful selection of material proved a great winter tonic and left us with smiling faces; and like Reverend Eli Jenkins in his sunset poem which Paul recited from “Under Milk Wood” we hoped that when saying “good-bye” it was “just for now!” as we would love him to come and entertain us again next year.
At each March meeting we celebrate our birthday (69 this year) with a party.
This year we are planning a curry evening.
Lager will be optional.
On March 22, the WI Centenary baton which is making its way around all the WIs in the country will be passing through our Group (Commons Edge’s) area and we will be cheering it on its way then climbing the “W” to enjoy tea with the other members of our Group.
