THE February meeting was given over to a commercial wine tasting conducted by Neil Gow, and not only were members asked to identify the country of origin but also the type of grape used and the price per bottle.

Needless to say this provoked a lot of discussion with opinions differing widely, however it went to show how people's tastes varied.

This was an interesting departure from the usual wine tasting and Neil was thanked for his efforts by Valerie Fussell, the chairperson.

There were three competitions with the table red dry class being won by Brenda Marlow, John Coleman second and Dave Marlow third.

The red sweet class was won by John Coleman, Neil Gow second and Eriv Brint third.

Don Wilkins won the lager class.

The judges for the evening were Sue and Matt Hatton who own 'Pops' a shop selling everything for home brewing and they are based in Cheltenham.
