MARCH 12 was an open meeting when we welcomed Sean McCormack to speak to us about his role as one of H.M. Majesty the Queen's Bodyguard, Yeomen of the Guard. Founded in 1485 The Guard wears it's uniform with pride, and we were more than delighted to be able to touch the garments, marvel at the weight of the great coat, and admire the beautiful workmanship.

Sean gave us a wonderful talk with an insight into the duties of the Guard, performed over the years.

From Investitures, The Garter Service, Royal Weddings, Royal Funerals and being on guard at the Lying in State, of Monarchs to happier occasions, like the Queens Golden and Diamond Jubilees, and the Buckingham

Palace Garden Parties.

After several questions, Sean was thanked by Celia Morrison-Smith.

Anne Brain our secretary was chosen to represent us at The Buckingham Palace Garden Party to celebrate the 100 years of the WI this summer.

One of our two teams in the County Quiz came second in the first round held at Bisley on Monday 16 and will go on to the next round in June, at Coaley.
