MARCH is the month we celebrate the founding of Nailsworth WI so at our meeting on the March 9 we enjoyed a curry evening and tested our memory and sanity with some very entertaining games.

On the March 16 we held a social skittles evening to practice our skittling skills in preparation for our match with Ampney Crusis in the first round of GFWI’s annual competition.

On the March 18, four of us attended the GFWI Annual Conference in Cheltenham Town Hall where we heard excellent speakers and witnessed the arrival of the WI Centenary Baton which is making its way around all the WIs in England and Wales before completing its journey at the NFWI Annual General Meeting in the Albert Hall on the June 4.

On March 22 it was the turn of Commons Edge Group (ours) to receive the baton and circulate it around Nailsworth, Woodchester, Box and Minchinhampton before passing it on to the next group.

After the event Box WI invited all members of our group to have tea and cakes, including a most beautiful Centenary celebration cake, with them in Box village hall and this was a very enjoyable ending to a memorable occasion.

At our Meeting on April 13 Steffi Stern of Mother Goose in Nailsworth is going to introduce us to needle felting.
