ON APRIL 4, 2015, a charity bowls drive was held at Cotswold Bowls Club, Golden Jubilee Way, Dudbridge Stroud.

This event started 26 years ago at Yate IBC and has been held annually ever since.

When Yate closed we needed to find a new venue.

Fortunately Mid Glos IBC offered us their facilities and we’ve held it there for the last two years.

I then started playing at Cotswold Bowls Club and they generously let me hold the drive at their green this year at no cost, which means more money for the charities.

This years’ event was a great success again, well supported with 96 bowlers playing.

People popping in during the day to watch, buy raffle tickets and donate money.

We hope we can continue to hold it at Cotswold Bowls Club annually from now onwards.

The charity this year was SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, The Lullaby Trust.

The money raised on the day was £1,113 and we hope to get a donation from DHL Foundation as they have been generous in the past supporting the children's charities.

The day was brought to a close in a keenly fought final with the Gloucester Rink coming out the winners over the Cotswold Rink.

I would like to thank friends and family who helped during the day, George and Mandy in the kitchen, who kept us fed and watered, and all you bowlers who support us every year.

Finally, thank you Cotswold Bowls Club for giving us the use of their marvellous facilities.

To donate please send your cheque to Jenny Dyer, Cotswold Bowls Club, Golden Jubilee Way, Stroud GL5 3HQ
