THE first March meeting was given over to the AGM, when the president Peter Nairn gave a resume of the last year's meetings.

He recalled the high quality of speakers booked by Clive Blackmore and talks given by members.

Commenting on the venue he said we were indeed fortunate to have such a pleasant place to hold our meetings coupled with the fact that ample free parking was available.

Peter mentioned that, in common with other organisations, we were not attracting many new members, and there seemed to be a general reluctance for people to join groups.

He thought this was unfortunate as it provided opportunities to meet and make friends.

Everyone thought Peter was doing an excellent job as president and he was unanimously re-elected to serve for the next twelve months.

While appreciating members confidence in his stewardship he gave notice that he would not serve another term after this one.

Following the election of officers Peter said Graham Furley was unfortunately unable to continue as treasurer and he paid tribute to the sterling work that Graham had performed over the years.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, commencing 10.15am at The Cotswold Indoor Bowling Centre, Dudbridge, Stroud and is open to all retired men.
