EVERY six months for the past two years Protect the Public Against Microwave Radiation has called a public meeting in The Old Town Hall to explore an aspect of wireless technology.
Speakers have offered their expertise – among them a doctor and a physicist – on masts, cordless and mobile phones and wifi.
On April 12 the subject was Smart Meters, now being rolled out to measure the use of electricity, gas and water.
Mike Mitcham, the founder of StopSmartMeters, showed the film ‘Take Back Your Power’ – a documentary on the fascist enforcement of these meters on American homes, with interviews with people reporting debilitating health effects such as headaches, fatigue, insomnia, etc.
The meters emit radio/microwaves 24/7 far stronger than a mobile phone in intense bursts of radiation that goes through the walls of the house.
This is in spite of the warning of the World Health Organisation in 2011 that classified all wireless radiation as a Class 2B possible carcinogen.
Mike answered questions about smart meters, making it clear that they are not mandatory and that we can write to our energy supplier to decline the offer.
