THE first ever monitoring visit by Ofsted to St Martin’s, the post-19 centre at St Rose’s which opened 18 months ago, has praised leadership, staff and standards, and the positive learning culture created for students.

Ofsted said ‘The good collaboration between education, therapeutic and residential staff improves the outcomes for students.’

In relation to leadership they said ‘Leaders and managers have high expectations and reinforce high standards throughout the college.’

Ofsted also highlighted the positive environment created for students: ‘The college culture of promoting dignity and self-worth for all students is apparent in all activities.’

Jean Bankhead, Head of Learning, said ‘St Martin’s post-19 Centre has only been open since September 2013, and we are delighted with this first report from Ofsted.

They have recognised the skill and dedication of our education, therapy and care staff.

The high quality of their work is vital in ensuring our students achieve their potential.’
