PAINSWICK Care Home residents have scooped top spot in an art competition held at Richmond Northampton recently.

More than 30 residents entered the competition from the Richmond Villages nationwide.

Artists were invited to submit works in their choice of medium including painting, drawing, charcoal and pastels and creative art/decoupage, under the theme of ‘English Country Garden’.

The competition was judged by Chris Rayatt, Head of Activities (Northampton), a professional artist, and a representative of the Northampton Art & History Museum.

The judges said: ”This was a fantastic effort by everyone, and an extremely high standard was attained, but Richmond Painswick’s Care Home entry stood out.”

Representing Painswick, Resident Joan Butlin said: “It was a joint effort from the care home. I’m absolutely thrilled."
