SWR’s new track is a big jump in facilities
A COMPETITION-standard long jump/triple jump facility has been installed at Sir William Romney’s School in Tetbury.
Boasting a 40m Tartan track and 9m jumping pit, the new facility was funded by a grant of £15,000 from the Gloucestershire County Council’s Active Together Scheme and has been completed in time for the school’s annual sports day on June 23.
Not only will the track allow the school to enhance its teaching of athletics, it will also benefit junior and senior athletes from local area clubs who until now have had to travel to Cheltenham to train.
The new facility fills a huge athletics gap in the community and Stroud Athletics Club has already confirmed it would use the track.
