The Stroud District and its part in the Great War 1914-1919

Local Research and History groups will be displaying their work about the people and trades in the Stroud District during the Great War.
The Royal Flying Corps re-enactment group will be displaying in period costume.
There will be displays by Cotswold Canals Trust (Phase 1b), Cotswold Wardens and the History Press.
If you have any family souvenirs of 1914 -19 please bring them along to the exhibition to show to the history groups.
Saturday, June 13, 2015, 10 am – 5 pm
11am - Tina Blackman from New Zealand will open the exhibition, giving a talk about her new book, The Three Uncles - the story of the Cole brothers from Brimscombe, who went to the battlefields in France.
12pm - Memorial Service at Brimscombe Corner War Memorial to remember those who took part in the Great War.
1pm - Royal Flying Corps re-enactors
2pm - Choice of two guided walks
Meet outside the exhibition at 2pm.
Cost for each walk adults £3, children free.
Walk 1 - A short walk around Brimscombe to look at where the Cole brothers and other local soldiers would have lived and worked.
Walk 2 - The Cotswold Wardens will lead a ramble east along the canal path, climbing to Hyde and circling back to Brimscombe.
3pm - Royal Flying Corps re-enactors
Sunday, June 14, 2015, 11am – 4 pm
11am - Exhibition opens
12pm - Peter Evans will give a talk about his time in Brimscombe when a child. He was born in Brimscombe in 1932.
2pm - Choice of two guided walks
Meet outside the exhibition at 2pm.
Cost for each walk adults £3, children free.
Walk 1 – A short walk.
Mills and People of Brimscombe and Thrupp.
Walk 2 - The Cotswold Wardens will lead a ramble west along the towpath, climbing to Winstone's and returning to Brimscombe.
Café open both days.
