A LOCAL bus operator will soon be opening a competition for children and adults alike to take part in, within Stroud, where they can compete to win the chance to name the latest bus to be added to the region.

Stagecoach West, operating within Stroud, are soon to release a list of all the buses they have within the area so that children and adults can name them and send their suggestions in through via email to west.enquiries@stagecoachbus.com.

The chosen winner will be given the opportunity to name the newest bus soon to be added to the fleet.

Although no Stagecoach West buses have names at the moment, the team felt it would be nice to give them names – similar to that of lorry drivers and their lorries – in order to give the vehicles a little more character and a place in the public’s heart.

The list of buses will soon be made available for naming via stagecoachbus.com/west and on Twitter at @Stagecoach_West.

The competition will remain open for one month, with the winner announced on social media shortly after.

Rupert Cox, Managing Director for Stagecoach West for, commented:

“We’re always looking to add new buses to the company and provide additional routes and services to the community, so when we do add a new bus to the company we’d love it if a member of the public could name it. It can be something special and meaningful, something silly, something that’s specific to the local area; whatever the entrant fancies. If this turns out to be a popular competition, then we may roll it out to all of our buses and give them all names.”
