Free admission for children from July 20 – August 31

VISITORS to the Forestry Commission’s National Arboretum at Westonbirt can enjoy plenty of tree-filled fun this summer with free entry for kids and a fantastic line-up of events to entertain the whole family.

From July 21-23, July 28-30 and August 4-6, families can explore the Hidden Life of Leaves, learning about the vital role leaves play in the tree canopy on a family trail and make their very own painted leaf tiles, leaf stitching or willow leaves to finish.

From August 11-13 and 18- 20, children can unearth the characters of trees at Tree Reading, finding out about their amazing structures and create fuzzy leaf twigs, ink-blown forest pictures or pom pom branches to take home.

For wildlife lovers, visit Westonbirt’s signature summer event, Treefest on August 29 -31, and take part in Tree Life.

On a trail around the festival site kids can discover how an invertebrate lives and survives in the leaf litter, and then make their own woodland cone creature to take home with them.

For visitors looking to explore Westonbirt solo, they can pick up a play leaflet from the Welcome Building and discover hidden adventures among the trees on the family play trail, exploring ten natural play areas around the arboretum.

Those with eagle eyes will spot the resident Gruffalo hiding out in the Old Arboretum.
