Nailsworth & District Flower Arrangement Society
WE WERE pleased to welcome over 70 members and visitors who enjoyed the dry humour and skilful arranging of flowers by our area demonstrator Sandra Snell from Ross-on-Wye.
Sandra’s title for her presentation was ‘Seasonal Delights’.
Her first arrangement was a large bowl of summer flowers for the low table.
A design including curly bamboo, shamrock, chrysanthemum, carnations and orange dahlias soon followed.
A third arrangement in shades of yellow depicted the sunshine and a fourth a summer basket of flowers picked from the garden.
A trip to the seaside was her next design arranged in a lobster pot style container.
For her finale Sandra created an exotic look of holidays abroad in a container filled with a variety of beautiful foliage, an unusual allium, yarrow topped with ’bird of paradise’.
Throughout her demonstration Sandra kept the audience laughing with tales of her experiences of moving from an isolated cottage to a retirement bungalow.
There was only one entry for the decorated napkin ring competition so Elaine Bushby’s entry will be displayed at the Area Council Meeting.
Tickets for the Member’s Supper on November 4, and for the Christmas Open Evening at Wycliffe College on December 16 will be on sale at our next meeting.
Orders are now being taken for next year’s copies of Flower Arranger and Area News magazines.
Jackie Beard is our demonstrator for the next meeting on September 2 at 7.30pm in Nailsworth Town Hall.
Visitors are always welcome.
