Nailsworth WI

OUR boulles evening in King George V Field, was a great success and our thanks go to Mike Harvey for helping everyone to join in.

At our meeting on July 13, we were joined by members of the Nailsworth Society’s Local History Research Group and together we provided a good audience to hear Melissa Ravenhill’s excellent talk about Woefuldane Dairy.

It was light hearted and entertaining as well as giving clear information about the process of cheese making and how different types can be made from the same product.

We even experienced the magical moment when cream became cheese (eventually) by each having a turn at shaking a glass jar full of cream.

She also gave some idea of the conditions that have to be fulfilled to achieve organic farm and produce status.

On August 11, a small group visited Gloucester Folk Museum to see an exhibition put on by Gloucester Federation in celebration of the Centenary of the Women’s Institute.

It is a wonderful display which should be seen by everyone.

At our next meeting on September 14, Alexandra Stanbrook is giving a talk on “Hilarious Hats”.

If you would like to join us please call on (01453) 832 756 or 839 052.
