MEMBERS and guests gathered for the trip to Knoll Gardens in Dorset on Saturday, August 22.
The weather was kind so everyone was eager to arrive at their destination.
Some of the members had visited before and were delighted to renew the experience.
When the coach encountered a traffic hold–up sandwiches etc were eaten early in order to extend visiting time in the gardens.
On arrival everyone dispersed to explore the gardens.
This particular garden holds National Collections of Pennisetum which look wonderful in the sunshine.
There are mature and unusual trees and shrubs with perennials which thrive within an informal setting.
The Dragon Garden and Decennium border planted in the naturalistic style was much appreciated, unfortunately a large Eucalyptus tree had fallen, but did not deter or lessen the enjoyment of anyone!
Thanks to the Committee for arranging a lovely day out.
The next meeting in the Village Hall will be on Tuesday, September 8, starting at 7.30pm, the subject for the evening will be “Plants for Autumn/ Winter Interest” presented by Mr P Green, non members are also welcome at a cost of £2.50 at the door.
