All change at The Door – Youth work services in Stroud

THE Youth work services at The Door are going through some exciting changes to improve how they meet the needs of young people.

Youth Work Manager James Honey comments “Since the beginning of September, our youth work department has split meaning we have specific youth work services for 11-17s and another for 16-25.

Our primary focus will be providing a more structured youth service for 11-17s offering opportunities to volunteer and get involved in age appropriate activities which not only act to keep young people safe but also to empower them to gain confidence and self esteem.

Our 16-25 youth work will act as a support service where young people can access specific 1-2-1 free advice.

The areas of support we can offer include education, employment, training and health and well-being.

You may have noticed a slight age overlap - 11-17/16-25.

This is in order to give a young person aged 16 the opportunity to access both youth work services as we understand there is a transition period in a young person’s life as they either stay on at school or move onto college and other further education.

We are really excited about the changes and both young people and staff are seeing the benefits these changes are making to the quality of youth work we deliver”.
