Saints ‘Go marching in’ Quedgeley

YOUNGSTERS at STJ’s the popular family service at Saint James’ Quedgeley had fun re-enacting the story of Saint George and the dragon.

The popular family service held at Saint James’ Quedgeley was held on November 1 – All Saints Day.

The saint they decided to find out more about was Saint George.

After prayers, and songs the craft activity was making a shield and sword. Adults weren’t let off the hook either, as they were encouraged to help the children and make their own St George’s paper flags.

The service concluded with a parade around the church, to the popular song ‘When the saints go marching in.’

As usual a free buffet lunch was provided by members of the congregation.

Father John Rector and Parish Priest said: “It was a busy morning, non-stop. The story captured the children’s attention and they were enthralled making shields and swords. Saint George is featured on one of the church’s stain glass windows so the link to Saint George is that much stronger. My thanks go to Jane and Emma for the story time and craft activity, also to all the volunteers who worked in the kitchen preparing the lunch to make the morning such a success.”
