LOCAL bus company, Stagecoach West, is supporting the 2015 Poppy Appeal and the Royal British Legion by decorating their vehicles with 200 vinyl poppies.

To mark the 2015 Poppy Appeal campaign, a number of the Stagecoach West buses throughout Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Stroud and the Forest of Dean will be fitted with vinyl poppies.

Activity supports the ongoing work of Stagecoach West to support the armed forces community.

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal helps to provide thousands of modern veterans, service men, women and their families with vital advice and support.

To help raise awareness of this year’s Poppy Appeal, 200 poppies will be fitted to buses operating in the West.

Stagecoach West has also made a donation to the charity.

Stagecoach UK has also made a significant donation to ensure that poppies are provided for all drivers across the UK who wish to wear one.

Other activities planned by employees of Stagecoach West include giving every employee a poppy and asking them to donate money into the collection tin.

After the 11th, the money will be counted and donated back to the British Legion.

Rupert Cox, Managing Director of Stagecoach West, commented:

“I’m delighted that we are able to help raise funds for such a worthy cause that is so important to many of our employees and passengers. We’re pleased to raise awareness of the important work of the charity and make a donation to the cause.

“We are proud to have signed up to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant and are pleased to support our local armed forces community with our vinyl poppies, as well as collecting money by giving each employee a collection tin.”

Sarah Jones, Community Fundraise for Gloucstershire Poppy Appeal, commented:

“It’s been an absolute privilege to work with Stagecoach West over the past year - they have gone above and beyond to support our Gloucestershire Poppy Appeal. They have boosted the profile of the Poppy Appeal and The Royal British Legion massively, with an increase in in our collections throughout the County. I cannot thank Stagecoach West enough for the support and publicity they have given The Royal British Legion, this support has meant we can continue our vital welfare work for the Armed Forces.”
