Gloucestershire Song Choir Workshops
GLOSTRAD, the Gloucestershire music project, has launched a new initiative aimed at encouraging community choirs to take up the songs of the county.
Matt Norman who, as well as being known for a number of community singing initiatives including the Bristol Folk Choir, also works for the ground breaking Bristol Ceilidh Quartet and Gabarene bands - both known for bringing fresh approaches to traditional music.
Matt has produced new choral arrangements for a number of songs collected in Gloucestershire including the Shurdington Wassail, Jolly Waggoner and Young Fisherman.
The arrangements are designed to be easy for community choirs to sing.
He will be holding a series of day long workshops (10am to 3pm) in a variety of locations around the county.
Each workshop is suitable for singers of all abilities.
Entrance price is just £5.
The Glostrad project operates in partnership with the Gloucestershire Archives and Gloucestershire Music Makers and is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
