Nailsworth WI: Hilarious hats and an old-fashioned magic lantern show

OUR 2015 programme finished with some excellent story tellers, Alexandra Stanbrook with her presentation 'Hilarious Hats' amused us with some hilarious tales and also inspired us as some stories showed a very positive attitude to life.

And all the time we were able to admire the procession of fabulous, not hilarious hats which she wore as she talked, Fiona Eadie mesmerised us with her wonderful voice and way of story-telling as she brought to life some fascinating traditional tales.

Mr and Mrs David Bayley treated us to an old-fashioned magic lantern show with their wonderful collection of old slides and got across to us the wonder and excitement which the very first showing of moving images created in audiences both young and old.

We started our 2016 programme with what has become a traditional January lunch for our members and their guests.

As well as enjoying the meal prepared by the committee everyone enjoyed the opportunity it presented for a cheerful social get-together in the middle of our gloomy wet winter.

On February 8, we welcome Paul Evans for a much anticipated return visit for him to entertain us with more of his delightful monologues, anecdotes, recitations and poems.
