MARLING School are one of 100 schools across England who are working with Get Set for Community Action, the youth engagement platform from Team GB and ParalympicsGB, to lead and drive a brand new programme for 14 to 19 year olds using the Olympic and Paralympic Values to empower students to develop new skills and strengthen relationships within the community.
As a result Marling hosted a national training event on Monday, January 20, whereby our team of students were joined by students from Archway School, Rednock School, Stroud High School, Cheltenham Bournside School and Ribston Hall High School to develop their leadership and communications skills as well as working thorough scenarios of possible projects they may carry out in their local area in the run up to the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
On Friday, January 29, Marling School students had the opportunity to play wheelchair rugby as part of the Wheelchair Rugby Outreach programme, run by the University of Gloucestershire in association with Gloucester RFC.
The sport was thoroughly enjoyed by all students.
