Stroud Wine Circle: Margaret Daniels and The Bard of Barnwood
THE March meeting saw a welcome return of Margaret Daniels, 'The Bard of Barnwood’ with a further selections of her original and humorous poetry and prose.
She has the ability to take everyday aspects of life and give them a comic twist which make people laugh.
Margaret always gives her speaker’s fee to help disadvantaged children and, as on the previous when she visited members also made their own contributions to her cause.
There were two competitions both judged by James Mapson from the Reddings Wine Circle and in the medium sweet rose class Brenda Marlow took first place with Christine Philip second and Fred Gilpin third.
Brenda also took top spot in the white dessert class with Fred Gilpin and Joyce Meadows taking the lesser places.
This has certainly been a good month for Brenda as she also took second place in the Spencer/Walton competition at Brockworth when she was competing against members of several other Wine Circles.
