Saint James Church, Quedgeley: Bunting, balloons and flags

THERE was bunting, balloons and flags waved to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday on Tuesday.

Youngsters at the popular Chatterbox ‘drop –in’ made their own ‘Crown Jewels’. Crowns made from silver, gold and foil card, decorated with brightly coloured baubles and glitter were worn by most of the children.

They also had a ‘goody’ bag to take home.

Father John Rector and Parish Priest said: “Some of our local residents who attend Chit Chat can remember the Queen ascending to the throne; few can remember her being born. Whether you believe in the monarchy or not, you can’t deny that she has worked extremely hard and dedicated her life to this country. I am very proud that our community groups are holding these events and look forward to the church holding something similar later in the year. Saint James’ wishes Her Majesty a very Happy Birthday”
