Gloucestershire Royal British Legion Chairman Elected to Board of Trustees

AFTER many successful years as Gloucestershire’s Royal British Legion County Chairman, Group Captain Anny Reid OBE ARRC has had her hard work, dedication and loyalty formally recognised by the Legion’s Headquarters in London.

They have selected her to serve on the prestigious Board of Trustees, the Legion’s governing body.

Members are nominated and elected on a national, not regional, basis.

Once elected to the Board of Trustees they can be called upon to explain policy, give guidance and settle disputes, and collectively are responsible for instructing and advising the Membership Council, Counties and Branches in all matters.

Anny polled nearly 25 per cent of the vote and is one of three elected from the seven candidates in contention.

Her appointment to the Board of Trustees is well deserved and one which will ensure that her knowledge and drive will be used to shape the Legion’s future into the next decade, ensuring that the charity remains ‘Fit for Purpose’.

She is no stranger to national decision making being a member of the national RBL Welfare Public Policy Panel which debates welfare issues affecting its beneficiaries.

Area Manager, David Lowe, said “I cannot think of anybody who deserves the recognition and appointment more than Anny, she represents all that is outstanding within the Legion. Although it is Gloucestershire’s loss, it will be the Legion’s gain.”

During her time as County Chairman Anny has championed various County projects including corporate partnerships with Stage Coach West and GCHQ.

Her support to Peter Rowland in his ‘14-18 Legacy’ project has been a driving force and has seen youngsters in Gloucestershire raise £73,000 within the County for the Legion’s 90th Anniversary.

The County RBL members wish her every success in her new role.
