Nailsworth Valley Probus Club: Mr Nickolas Clark presented an entertaining talk of his journeying in Malaysia, from Penang to Singapore – a holiday adventure

ON APRIL 27, Mr Nickolas Clark presented Nailsworth Valley Probus Club with an entertaining talk supported by slides, of his journeying in Malaysia, from Penang to Singapore – a holiday adventure.

Members were given translations of words seen on various notice boards and advertisements in the sightseeing centres of the country with some entertaining and interesting anecdotal experiences.

The majority of the country is covered in rainforest, which, unfortunately due to deforestation policies, is being reduced.

The forest hosts a huge diversity of plant and animal species, birds, reptiles and 150 species of frogs.

However, as the forest is cut to make room for plantations, for palm oil and other cash crops, deforestation is a major problem for wildlife.

The Country’s coastal waters, comprising part of the coral triangle, is home to a large variety of marine life.

After a variety of questions, the new President the Rev Stuart Radford, thanked Mr Clark for his very interesting talk and closed the meeting around 11.45 am.

New members are always welcome.
