Nailsworth and District Flower Arrangement Society: A Walk on the Wild Side with Alwyn Page

ALWYN Page, area demonstrator, ex-florist, and teacher, was our guest for the May meeting.

Alwyn had travelled from Chepstow to give us a floral interpretation of "A Walk on the Wild Side".

Her first arrangement, entitled “My spring Garden” was a front facing design of twisted willow purple iris, deep pink lilac, and stocks in which she demonstrated her passion for seasonal flowers.

“Wild in the Country” was the title of her second arrangement consisting of mainly palm leaves and dried grasses, of-set by some brilliantly coloured gerberas in an African styled pot container.

Alwyn chose a favourite “Wild Animal” for her third design which she made in an unusual home-made container filled with vertical plant-material twisted with vines and woven with orange roses, which was a brilliant interpretation of a tiger walking through the jungle.

In her fourth design Alwyn surprised and delighted her audience with a demonstration of a simple hand tied bunch of yellow tulips followed by two further bunches which she displayed in a wild basket made from birch twigs.

Alwyn chose the title “Colours of the Wild” for her final stunning arrangement of green and white flowers and foliage, an interpretation of a recent visit to Madeira and an impression of how green and beautiful England looked on her return.

The evening concluded with the stage full of beautiful arrangements in a myriad of colours.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, June 1, at 7.30pm, in the Town Hall when Linda Garrett will be demonstrating “All that Glitters”.

New members and visitors are always welcome.
