Neil Carmichael MP visits Downton Logistics Apprenticeship Open Day
STROUD MP Neil Carmichael visited local company Downton Logistics to discuss their apprenticeship programme.
Downton focus their efforts on attracting young people into the industry and their apprenticeship scheme, despite only been running for two years, has already attracted 22 apprentices, targeting two every six weeks.
Director Richard Downton said: “It was great to have Neil here this morning and we value his efforts to highlight the need to attract young people to the industry.”
Neil said: “This is a fantastic programme, which is delivering real results and having an impact on the career opportunities for our young people. I was really encouraged to see a firm so professional in its recruitment strategy for apprentices. In emphasising the long term opportunities that young people can have in the logistic sector is exactly the right way to develop a really effective and committed workforce.”
