Cainscross WI: A fun mini auction
MOST members were back for our May meeting and we also welcomed a couple of visitors to join us.
We did receive apologies however from Rowena Eccles, Mandy Sutton and Tina Hewgill.
We thanked Pam Elliott for her lovely table flowers of blue clematis and cream Cheerfulness narcissus arranged in a pretty pink and white spotted cup and saucer container.
It was a little bit of spring on the table.
After the usual business part of the evening, with a financial update from the Treasurer, some correspondence discussed and the two Resolutions voted for, our President Doreen became an Auctioneer for the night!
We had quite a display on offer for the fun ‘mini-auction’, including jewellery, scarves, a plant or two, some perfume and toiletries, handbags and other bric-a-brac.
Some light hearted bartering over some of the articles gained us a useful sum to put in the kitty towards the rest of the year’s entertainments.
If you haven’t managed to pay us a visit as yet, our next meeting will fall on Tuesday, June 7, when Mr Jim McLeod will give us a talk on ‘Toastmasters’.
The meeting will take place, as usual, in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross, to start at 7.15pm.
The monthly competition this time will be for ‘A Summer Hat’.
We always have refreshments, a raffle and a sales table and visitors are most welcome to join us.
We are also looking forward to July 5, when we will be celebrating our 90th year with a Birthday Party which will include musical entertainment by well known ‘Baily’s Beads’.
If you would like more information on any of the above events, please contact Mary on 01453 762812.
