A GIANT hedgehog braved the cold and daylight to help raise money for Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue!

Harley the hedgehog helped raise much needed funds by taking part in a Fun Run, and also tried his paws at Maypole Dancing!

Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue in Frampton on Severn care for and rehabilitate hedgehogs brought into the hospital by members of the public.

Orphaned hoglets, injured and sick hedgehogs and Autumn juveniles are cared for and then released – usually from the area they are found.

The ‘Run for the Hogs’ sponsored Fun Run, and raffle – raised £596 for the hospital.

The event ran alongside a Fretherne with Saul Parish Event in Saul Playing Field, where locals and hedgehog had a go at Maypole dancing!

Jo Bisley who runs Wild Hogs was delighted with the amount raised and said: ‘This was a fantastic event to raise much needed funds for the hospital, and to celebrate Hedgehog Awareness Week. I want to thank, and send big hedgehugs to all our runners and helpers on the day, and to everyone who donated money’.

Hedgehog awareness week this year is focusing on strimmers and cutting machines, as every year many deaths and terrible injuries are caused by garden machinery.

It is really important to check any areas before cutting or strimming.
