Stroud Shambles WI: Jannette Wooton gives a talk on The Donkey Sanctuary
SUZANNE welcomed members and read through the notices and forthcoming events.
Birthday posies were given to Freda Bonner-Barlow, Carol Butcher and Jenny Ray and Happy Birthday was sung.
The Summer Outing this year is to Elgars Birthplace Museum and gardens in Worcester on August 10.
The speaker today was Jannette Wooton who gave an enlightening talk on The Donkey Sanctuary.
The Donkey Sanctuary was founded in 1969 by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE, who gave her life to the care of abused, neglected and abandoned donkeys.
The Sanctuary has given over 15,000 donkeys and mules lifelong care.
No donkey has ever been turned away.
The charity also gives over 50,000 donkey assisted therapy sessions a year.
Donkey assisted therapy is for adults and children with special needs and this helps improve confidence, self-esteem, core balance and gives them a real sense of achievement.
The Donkey Sanctuary's mission is a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering and their contribution to humanity is fully valued.
