Stonehouse Royal British Legion Women's Section: Jon Mason from Highfield Garden Centre on hanging baskets and Carole Hoban, the new County Chairman
WE HAVE had very different speakers at our last two meetings.
Jon Mason came from Highfield Garden Centre and gave an excellent talk and demonstration on the making of hanging baskets which we all enjoyed.
He gave two baskets for the raffle.
The winners of the competition were Theresa Beales and Janet Walsh.
At our meeting on May 26 we were privileged to have Carole Hoban with us.
She is the new County Chairman and had recently attended the National Conference.
She explained that the Women`s Sections will be integrated with the RBL and will not close.
The day to day running will be just the same.
In the UK we have 29,000 members and in our Stonehouse branch there are 46 paid up members.
The Competition winners were June Dolphin and Val Weaver.
The County Quiz is on June 18 at St Joseph`s hall.
Our next meeting is on July 28th, at the Community Centre at 1.45pm when there will be a visit from a Ukulele Group and the competition is for a jewel box.
Members are asked to bring a raffle prize for a picnic hamper.
