Nailsworth & District Flower Arrangement Society: An evening of celebrations

AN EVENING of Celebrations commenced with photographs being taken of the Nailsworth Festival Arts Shield presented to the club by Nailsworth Town Council.

This was followed by the presentation of a cheque for £1,000 to the British Heart Foundation - money raised from the clubs Open Day at Wycliffe College in April.

We were also pleased to hear that the South West area of NAFAS had won a Gold Medal, at Chelsea this year.

Jo Heffernan was unanimously elected as a Vice- President of our Society for her unstinting support over many years.

The Winner of the evening competition entitled “Summer Sensation” was Elaine Bushby who was presented with the Jubilee Cup.

Jo Mason came a close second.

During the evening the audience were invited to enjoy a selection of cupcakes made by members of the committee with their tea and coffee to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Our demonstrator for the evening was Linda Garrett from Abergavenny.

Linda delighted the audience with her theme for the evening 'All that Glitters'.

Her outstanding knowledge of the origins of five precious stones she had chosen to depict for her arrangements were clearly visible in a selection of beautiful flowers and stunning designs.

A truly memorable evening.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, July 9 at 7.30pm in Nailsworth Town Hall.

Visitors are always welcome.
