Saint James’ Chatterbox in Quedgeley: On your marks…

Youngsters at the popular Saint James’ Chatterbox in Quedgeley took to their heels on Tuesday at the annual Sports Day.

Cllr Richard Cook opened the sporting event and both he and Rector Father John Ward then took part in the egg and spoon race.

Forty youngsters attended the event - races included running, jumping, egg and spoon race and walking with a balloon on your head!

The event concluded with a parents/carers race with several parents and their children joining in.

Part of the unused churchyard was cordoned off for the event with white lines being marked out for the tracks.

Every child was presented with a medal by Father John at the end of the morning.

Father John Rector and Parish Priest said: ‘It was a fantastic morning, the weather was superb and the children enjoyed the event greatly. I’m pleased that we can utilize this part of the churchyard to benefit the children. Chatterbox has become a great community asset and we see many new faces each week.’
