Nailsworth and District Flower Arrangement Society: Angela Turner a national demonstrator from Bournemouth provides a meeting with a difference

A MEETING with a difference!

On arrival members and visitors could have been excused for thinking that they were attending a concert having song sheets placed on their chairs.

A clue to the evening’s demonstration was however in the title “Singalonga”.

Angela Turner a national demonstrator from Bournemouth opened her demonstration with a natural arrangement of field grasses and daisies to the theme of 'The Sound of Music'.

The audience then sang 'The hills are alive'.

To a theme of 'Pretty Flamingo', Angela made a 1960s contemporary design using a bamboo frame with LPs attached and skilfully decorated it with beautiful gerberas.

'Summer Holiday' was the song for an arrangement of grasses in subtle shades of blues and greens depicting waves in the sea.

'I have a dream' was the theme for a fourth arrangement in which Angela cleverly wound calla lilies and gerberas into the frame of a large homemade dream catcher, complimenting them with toning shades of ribbons.

For her final arrangement “An English Country Garden” Angela made a traditional design using a stunning array of pink roses, peonies, and gerberas.

A hearty rendition of the song was sung by a delighted enthusiastic audience.

The competition, afternoon tea, was won by Elaine Bushby who was presented with the candelabra, second was Mary Oakey and third, Rose Grant.

Our next meeting is on August 3, at 7.30pm, in the town hall when Sue Blandford will be demonstrating “All One Summers Day”.

New members and visitors are always welcome.
