Stroud valley Scout Group nets £1,000 grant

PERSIMMON Homes Severn Valley has donated £1,000 to the Stroud Valley Scout Group as the builder announces its latest round of Community Champions.

The group, which meets on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the Scouting Centre in Chapel Street, provides activities for boys and girls aged six to 14-years-old.

The money will be used to support a feasibility and community engagement programme to help them build a new community centre on land owned and used by the Scout Group.

John Jones, Acting Group Scout Leader, said their existing building was used by many different groups and organisations, but now a more modern and up-to-date facility was needed.

“The current building is in a poor state, so we will use this donation to support funds we have already obtained to explore a range of ideas. These ideas will then be put forward for consultation with the wider community and our stakeholders.”

Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme is a national programme where charities, groups and individuals can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
