Saint James’ Church, Quedgeley: Vision 2016

Saint James’ Church in Quedgeley was well attended by members of the congregation, community organisations and local councillors on Tuesday evening to discuss their vision for the future of the church in their parish.

Following an initiative by Bishop Rachel churches throughout the diocese have been asked to pray and discuss with their congregation and local communities on the way forward for the next five years.

A lively discussion was held and it was generally believed that although Saint James’ has opened its doors to the wider community it could do much more.

Whilst the young and elderly are catered for at Saint James’ there is nothing for young people in their teens.

Other topics covered were:

• the Church of England’s view on minority groups,

• More community involvement at Saint James’ and how that could be achieved.

• Working in partnership with other organisations and churches in the area.

Father John Rector and Parish Priest said;

“The evening was lively and good humoured. There were a great many points raised and some for the Church of England to ponder generally. I’d like to thank all those in the community that took the time to send in a response form. I shall be collating them along with the points raised at our meeting and sending them to the Bishop”
