Stroud Wine Circle: A blind tasting
JULY is the month when members enter a ‘blind’ tasting with wine made to a recipe given out last July and the end products were of particularly high quality.
The member scoring the highest points was Janice Coleman.
There were two Circle competitions, social red which was won by Neil Gow, with Eric Brint taking second place and Valerie Fussell coming third.
The Gwen Hayward trophy for liqueur was won by Brenda Marlow, with Valerie Fussell and Janice Coleman taking the lesser places.
August 26, will be our home grown produce and cake sale where the community centre takes on the appearance of a cross between a horticultural show and a cake shop.
However, before then we have the Stonehouse Show on Sunday, August 14, where there are four classes of wine, dry red, dry white, sweet red and sweet white.
The Stroud and District Wine Circle Cup will be awarded to the overall winner of all the wine classes.
So come all you amateur wine makers get your entry forms in to Simon Lewis, 28 Meadow Road, Stonehouse, GL10 2HL, 01453 825229, before 8pm on Thursday, August 11.
Do not label your bottles as only the labels given out when you present your entries will be used.
