LUCKY Stonehouse Gardening Club!

It has been soaking wet in South Wales lately, but the sun shone on their summer outing to the Welsh Botanical Gardens last Saturday, August 6.

The trip exceeded expectations with extras such as a bird of prey display where the hawk refused to return and met up with a red kite instead!

Plus the steamy tropical house complete with butterflies.

This was in the recently renovated double walled garden, itself of interest to veg gardeners, grasses fans and arch lovers.

Perhaps the best was the relaxing atmosphere of the gardens combined with the beauty of the summer plants.

The final charm was returning on the main path to the exit, following a sparkling rivulet, winding down the gentle slope, from one water feature to the next.

The Stonehouse Gardening Club meets at the community centre every first Wednesday of the month.

Visitors welcome.
