Saint James' Church, Quedgeley: All creatures great and small

THE zoo came to STJs family service on Sunday.

Monkeys, elephants, cows and a few insects paraded around the church during the morning’s service.

The theme for the morning was All Creatures Great and Small and children creatively made their own animal masks.

But it wasn’t just the children who joined in.

Some of the elderly members of the congregation showed the youngsters a thing or two about making animal masks and came up with their own designs.

The story based on the Genesis story where God makes the earth and animals was retold by Jane Rogers with the help of puppets Maddie, Grandpa and Grandma James.

Cedric, Father John’s fox puppet kept everyone in order.

Father John Rector and Parish Priest said: "It was a lovely morning and great to see so many new faces. They were all in fine voice this morning as we sang ‘From the tiny ant to the elephant’ I was really impressed with the quality of masks they produced and everyone had a chance to choose from a selection of animal or insect masks. Next month is Harvest and I look forward to welcoming more new faces”
