Stroud Wine Circle: A commercial wine tasting hosted by Dave Marlow
OUR October monthly meeting opened with a commercial wine tasting hosted by Dave Marlow.
The wines he chose were different than the normal run of the mill types of wine.
He told us that there were approximately 10,000 different wine grapes grown around the world so he had looked for some of the more obscure wine types.
The tasting consisted of three white and three red wines and everyone agreed it was a great success enjoyed by all.
There were five wine comps judged by Katy and Alistair McFalane, and Moneque and Robin form Brockworth Wine Circle.
Table Red Dry (Street Cup) first Neil Gow, second Brenda Marlow, third Val Fussell.
Table White Dry (President Cup) first Brenda Marlow, second Dave Marlow, third Cyril Young.
Social Red (Circle Cup) first Fred Gilpin, second Dave Marlow, third Christine Philp.
Social White (Committee Cup) first Christine Philp, second Eric Brint, third Brenda Marlow.
Red Dessert (Lees Cup) first Dave Marlow, second Fred Gilpin, third Cyril Young.
The Title of Champion Winemaker went to Dave Marlow with his wife a very close second a mere two points behind.
