The Stars came out to support Cotswolds Charity

THE Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home charity held a magical evening of Christmas Carols on the frosty first day of Advent, Thursday, December 1.

The charity’s Patron and local celebrity Lisa Maxwell, hosted the evening with friends from TV and Stage - Denise Welch, Patrick Robinson and Gina Beck.

The Cotswold community came together at the beautiful St Mary's Church, Painswick with the support of Cotswold Life, Commercial, Bottle Green Drinks and the social enterprise project We Do Print.

The church was filled with music and laughter with wonderful performances from the celebrities who were supported by the Uley Allsorts Choir, the Cotswolds Area Music Makers, local buskers Lucy Richmond & Cassie Meakin-Tibenham and a reading by Ava & Oaky Bekarian.

Lisa Maxwell lead a hilarious version of The Twelve Days of Christmas with dogs in the audience joining in!

One of the guests commented “Probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a Christmas concert – well done all!”.

The fantastic event helped raise over £1,000 for the charity, which will go towards helping the most vulnerable animals in the community.

Flossie, a dog in the care of CDCH, took to the stage to tell her story through Lisa.

Flossie, who has been diagnosed with Cushings Disease, highlighted the very real need for small regular donations to the CDCH to help the other animals like her to live healthy and happy lives.

Lisa said “We have held this celebration for two years running now and have received overwhelming support from the local community on both occasions.”

“It is at this time of year we are most thankful for the time we get to spend celebrating with our friends and families; although the animals at our centre haven’t found their forever homes just yet, we are extremely grateful we have received such support to build our beautiful centre and that we are able to provide a safe, warm, caring place for them while they wait.”
