Cub Scouts visiting the Houses of Parliament

ON TUESDAY, December 13, Harriette and Max, two Cubs from Randwick Scout Group, visited the Houses of Parliament for a special reception to celebrate 100 years of Cub Scouts.

Afterwards, Harriette said: “When I went to the Houses of Parliament, it was the experience of a lifetime. The reason why we went there was because it was 100 years since Cubs had started and the Scout Association wanted to do something special to celebrate the occasion. I had so much fun! We saw Neil Carmichael who is the Stroud MP. He also happened to be a Cub Scout when he was young. We saw Steve Backshall from Deadly 60 and Olympic gold medallist Helen Glover. They each gave us an autograph which was amazing and they talked to us when we were taking a photo with them. I really like being a Cub and feel really lucky to have had this opportunity.”

Max said: “The best part of the day was meeting Steve Backshall and Helen Glover. We were able to hold Helen’s gold medals! Both Steve and Helen had been Cubs when they were younger.”
