Cainscross WI: A social evening

CAINSCROSS WI started their New Year programme with a Social Evening in early January.

Some members enjoyed stimulating ‘the little grey cells’ with a quiz, whilst others got on with their knitting or other craft projects they had under way.

All enjoyed a good chat and catch up of their Christmas and New Year news.

Most members were present, although there were apologies from Pam Clapp, Dot, Thelma and Patsy.

Val Dalby had arranged some pretty pink spray carnations in a lovely blue and white china vase for our table flowers and a lot of members paid their annual subscriptions.

Linda presented Doreen, our President, with a gift and a card signed by all members present, as she has a ‘significant’ birthday coming up soon.

Correspondence discussed included notice of the forthcoming Annual Council Meeting to take place at Cheltenham in March and there was news of many walks or other activities that could be entered into if so wished.

We finished with refreshments, the calling of the raffle and the monthly competition winners announced as:-

First - Margaret Adams

Second- Georgie Hall & Tina Hewgill (joint winners)

Third- Linda Foreman & Mary Jarrett (joint winners)

Our next meeting will fall on Tuesday, February 7, when we will be joined by two young ladies from Boots, the Chemist, who will make a small demonstration of some of their beauty products for us.

The monthly competition will be for a ‘Beauty Tip’.

This meeting will start as usual at 7.15pm in St. Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross and new members or visitors will be very welcome to join us. If you can’t make this meeting, the next one will be on Tuesday, March 7, when we will welcome Mr Jeff Ford and his talk/demonstration on ‘Copper Enamelling’.

I hope to see you at a meeting soon, or for more details on any of the above, please contact 01453 762812.
