Stroud Gardening Club's AGM

FEBRUARY is the month of the Annual General Meeting of the Stroud Gardening Club, and on the arrival of our members for the meeting a Gardening Quiz sheet was handed to everyone.

This stimulates the brain, we hope, and is a lot of fun, devised by Tony Wyatt.

They have their sheets close by and can write their answers as they come to them.

Agendas were also distributed, together with the Balance Sheet.

Overall, the club is doing quite well, with an increase in membership, and a good take up in the trips which were organised last year.

The Committee consists of Sharon Pellatt, chairperson, Jan Davis, secretary and Marianne Child, treasurer.

We will be ably assisted by Jane Burriss, and newly elected Mavis Wyatt, Christine Davies and Gill Jobbins.

This year, we are having a ticketed event on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, which is 'An Evening With Reg Moule'.

This will be held at the Bedford Street Congregational Church Rooms at 7.30pm, and will be priced at £5 each, with refreshments and raffle available.

We are also running a coach trip to The Malvern Spring Gardening Show on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

The coach will leave Stratford Park Leisure Centre at 9am, arriving at Malvern by 10.30am.

We will depart Malvern at 4pm.

The cost is £26.50 per person.

The second outing will be on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, and the destination is Blenheim Palace where there are two options.

One is to visit the Palace, Park and Gardens at £25 per person, and the second is to visit Park and Gardens only for £20 per person.

This also leaves Stratford Park Leisure Centre at 9am and leaves Blenheim at 4pm.

For this trip, cafes and restaurants are available on site, but picnics may also be taken as picnic sites are available in the Park.

To book seats or for further information on these events, please call Jan Davis on 01453757952 or 07917876821.

Sharon thanked everyone for coming to the meeting, and taking part in the proceedings.

Afterwards, Tony gave the answers to the quiz which was won by Gill Jobbins, who took home a trowel and dibber prize.

The tea/coffee refreshments, and cakes made by Jan and Sharon were then served.

Our next meeting takes place on Wednesday, March 15, and is the Club Bulb Show, open to members only.

Sue Sutton will be judging the entries, and should be a very competitive evening. Entries to be staged by 7pm.
