Take on Maggie’s to Maggie’s
CALLING all cyclists! You get involved with Maggie’s to Maggie’s by cycling between the Maggie’s Centres in Cheltenham and Oxford on Sunday, April 30.
The ride takes in the beautiful rolling Cotswold Hills in spring with a fantastic 50 mile route; participants can take part in whichever direction they choose. The money raised from the £20 early-bird registration fee and any optional sponsorship will be used to help the thousands of people living with cancer in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
John Hughes took on a much longer, and very personal Maggie’s to Maggie’s challenge when he cycled to 14 Maggie's Centres across the UK in memory of his wife Carol and in support of Maggie’s Cheltenham. "Both Carol and myself are passionate supporters of Maggie's and I decided to do a bike ride to all the Maggie's Centres in the UK, for two reasons. Firstly to celebrate Carol's life and how she lived with cancer so bravely over the years, and secondly, to raise funds for Maggie's to ensure others continue to receive the benefit of the wonderful support they offer."
Built close to Cheltenham General Hospital Maggie’s Cheltenham provides practical and emotional support for anyone living with cancer. The Centre is a warm and welcoming place, with qualified professionals on hand to offer an evidence-based core programme of support that has been shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing. Maggie’s Cheltenham relies on voluntary donations to support the Centre and develop its unique, high quality programme of support.
Jane Fide, Centre Head at Maggie’s Cheltenham said: “The Maggie’s to Maggie’s ride is a fantastic way to support Maggie’s Cheltenham. As a charity, the Centre relies on donations and fundraising events which allows us to continue to develop our unique, high quality programme of support, offering the best support possible to people with cancer as well as their family and friends.”
